Dr. Ghanimeh is a Research Associate Professor at the Environmental Science Center (ESC) at Qatar University. She is a scholar in the field of Environmental & Water Resources Engineering, with about 60 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Dr. Ghanimeh’s research focuses on water resources management and anaerobic digestion processes to recover energy from wastewater and solid waste. Also, she addressed community resilience through climate change adaptation in urban setups, considering mainly effects on food and water quality on public health. Lately, she worked on impacts of climate change and population growth on water balance, through modeling of urban water demand and surface water supply. Dr. Ghanimeh has leading positions in international professional organizations, including the International Solid Waste Association (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA, Pittsburgh, USA). She worked as senior expert and team leader on multiple national and international developmental projects funded by international organizations including European Union (EU), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United State Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), German Society for International Co-operation (GIZ) and Democracy Reporting International (DRI) among others.
