Els van Doesburg is an Antwerp alderman for housing, city and public cleanliness, animal welfare and health and senior care. She moved from the Netherlands to Flanders during her teenage years. After her studies at the University of Antwerp, she joined the federal N-VA parliamentary group in the Chamber of Representatives as a parliamentary assistant. In the local elections in 2018, Els was elected as a municipal councilor in Antwerp, she became chair of the committee on equal opportunities, integration and civic integration. Since May 2021 she has been alderman for housing, public cleanliness, animal welfare and health and senior care. She is also chair of the Antwerp Hospital Network (ZNA), the Antwerp Care Company and Woonhaven.
