Women, Waste, and Climate: Unlocking Women’s Potential to tackle the triple planetary crisis and a Gender-Just Transition This session will showcase the role, obstacles, and opportunities for women in the waste management sector to tackle the triple planetary crisis; climate change, plastic pollution and biodiversity loss through a gender-just transition to a circular economy. The session will explore women’s contributions and untapped potential as informal workers, entrepreneurs, leaders, and professionals. Through presentations and a panel of international speakers, we will explore policies, capacity-building programs, research, and other avenues for affecting a gender-just transition – one that incorporates the accountability structures needed to ensure women’s rights are protected and promoted; amplifies women’s power as change agents; and recognizes women’s unique knowledge and skills. Finally, the Task Force will announce the publication of its 2nd Global Survey and partnership with USAID CCBO, GRID-Arendal and WIEGO.
