We are now at a transcendental moment with solid opportunities for capitalising on the political will to take decisive action for ending plastic pollution. Currently, member states are in the process of negotiating a legally binding instrument to end plastic pollution by the end of 2024. ISWA has recognised the importance of giving sound technical input to the treaty negotiations while bringing waste and resource management to the main agenda. We have also worked on establishing collaboration with other stakeholders, mobilizing ISWA members, and communicating and sharing knowledge. In this session, we will discuss in a dynamic panel with task force members and key partners, the development of this process and how the waste and resources sector can play a key role as an enabler and facilitator of all the objectives of the treaty. Also, we will touch on the way forward and how this process can impact practices, businesses, governments, and communities facing plastic pollution.
